While the hip hop and R&B scene may be full of famous musical collaborations, there are also many famous romantic unions within hip hop. We have compiled a small selection of the most famous, successful and current couples currently on the hip hop scene.

Beyoncé and Jaz-Z

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are one of the most famous couples in the world. Although they have attempted to keep their private lives out of the public eye, their relationship attracts a lot of attention. They are said to have met around the time of their collaboration on Jay-Z’s album The Blueprint 2. Beyoncé appeared as Jay’s girlfriend in the video of ‘Bonnie & Clyde’ which fuelled rumours that were later confirmed. Being the private couple that they are, they married in 2008 without any media attention and continued to collaborate musically with one another. Since the birth of their first child, Blue Ivy, in 2012 the Carter family have become a lot more relaxed about their privacy, publishing many pictures of them as a family and even featuring Blue on Beyoncé’s fifth studio album.

Snoop Dogg and Shante Taylor

Snoop Dogg has described his long marriage to Shante Taylor as a roller coaster ride. The couple began as high school sweet hearts and were married in 1997. While their marriage has been turbulent, nearing divorce at times, the couple were always able to reconcile their differences and have remained strong. They renewed their vows in 2008 to solidify their commitment to one another after coming close to a divorce in 2004. Snoop Dogg owes their success to “communication” and “being able to fight”; he claims that it is these factors which have lead to a strong, lengthy commitment.

Iggy Azalea and Nick Young

Having recently broken into the public eye in the last year or so, Iggy is a fairly recent, mainstream hip hop star. Although she has been on the underground scene for years, Iggy has begun to receive the public attention her talent deserves. Her relationship with Nick Young has also received a lot of media attention. The relationship between the Australian rapper and the Los Angeles Lakers star blossomed over Twitter, of all mediums. After declaring Iggy as his #WomanCrushWednesday their relationship has gone from strength to strength. Although the couple haven’t been together long, they have already attracted a lot of media attention, as well as the attention of both sides of fans.
